D-Day. 3 weeks. 1 day.

Dear Burk,
You're coming home to mom and dad's today.  Mom, in her infinite wisdom, arranged for the hospital to transport you there.  I can just seem mom and dad trying to get you in the Durango.  Oh boy.
They're coming to get you at the hospital at 2pm.  Mom and Kelli are there now with you.  I have chosen not to bring my kids to this event.  We have no idea what to expect.  If it goes smoothly, it will be a miracle.  We aren't counting on it.
Some people came yesterday to set up your hospital bed and deliver a wheelchair.  There is a trapeze above the bed so you can maneuver yourself in the bed.  I'm not sure we'll hook that up yet.  You getting out of bed is the biggest concern at this point.
You can't really be alone.  Ever.  So somehow we have to rotate and make sure someone's with you at all times.  At least until we see what's going to happen.  And we have voted that mom not be alone with you.  Not because we don't think she can handle you, we're just not sure she'd do what was necessary.  Like possibly punch you in the face.  Kidding.  Sort of.   We hope it doesn't come to that.
If worst comes to worst, we may have to tie you down again, or sedate you with something strong enough for a horse.  Just to make sure you don't wake up.  Anything is possible at this point.
Yesterday while mom was visiting you, you sat on the edge of the bed with your back to her.  Out of nowhere you said "Mom, don't look.  I'm naked and I don't want to gross you out."  Would have been a considerate thing to say I guess, except you weren't naked.  And this is where the current problem lies.  The broken bones will heal.  As long as you quit trying to stand up.  But the head.....well, we're not sure about the head.  And that.  That is terrifying.  For everyone involved.
Day at a time.  It's going to be an adventurous afternoon.
