Tuesday. Almost one month.

Dear Burk,
Things are much the same as they have been the past few days.  Mom, Dad, and Uncle Jim are covering all the shifts right now.  A lot of work for them.  Kelli and I have been able to focus on our families a little more thanks to Uncle Jim being here.  We are soooo grateful to him for his help.  It's not a highly favorable position he's covering but he's doing it graciously.  Mom's lucky to have such a good brother.
Tomorrow you have your first doctor's appointment after leaving the hospital.  It's with the doctor who operated on your left leg (the one that was shattered and is now held together by plates and screws).  There was some concern on the last x-ray you got before leaving the hospital that perhaps some damage had already been done.  Hopefully it doesn't mean another surgery.
The complication is how to get you to the appointment.  Too bad the doc won't make a house call with a portable x-ray machine.  What kind of doctor is he anyway?  Dad would've done it.  :)
You're in the basement right now and getting you up the flight of stairs is out of the question.  So they'll have to take you around the backyard and up the big hill.  You're too big for one person to be able to push up.  It's a pretty steep hill.  There has been some talk of using the riding lawnmower.  I'm positive that wasn't mom's idea.  I'm not sure what kind of MacGyverish idea Dad has in mind but I think it has disaster written all over it.  Makes me want to be there with a video camera for sure.  We should fly Jeremy in from Seattle to drive the mower and maybe he can pay you back for the time you rolled him in the trailer behind the mower.  You still laugh every time we talk about that.
I have a feeling tomorrow will be filled with a lot of frustration from all parties involved and a lot of grumbling from you.  Once they get you through the backyard, they still have to get you in a car, out of the car to the appointment, back in the car, out of the car at the house, and back through the backyard and into the basement.  It's making me tired just thinking about it.  I should tell mom and dad to put in earplugs so they don't have to listen to what comes out of your mouth.  I'm sure it won't be suitable for children or our parents for that matter.  You're gonna be mad.
